Vet Help introduces three significant features to enhance the functionality of your smartwatch.

1. Respiration and Pulse Measurement: Users can now effortlessly take a respiration or pulse rate without directly viewing the watch. Select your preferred time interval to begin counting, and haptic feedback will notify you when to start and stop. The digital crown can then be used to dial in the count, automatically calculating the pulse or respiration rate for you.

2. Weight and Dosage Calculations: Simply use the digital crown to input weight and mg/kg rate, which will calculate the total mg. The application supports various weight ranges for data entry, accommodating both kilograms and pounds.

3. Daily Caloric Expenditure Calculation: The app computes daily kilocalorie needs based on the Resting Energy Rate (RER) and established life stage factors. Users have the flexibility to enter their own life stage factors or utilize the standard presets.

The inspiration behind this app stems from a personal experience with my late cat, Corky, who had a worsening heart murmur. Monitoring her resting respiration rate proved challenging, as I found it difficult to count her breaths while concurrently checking my watch. The introduction of haptic feedback on my Apple Watch transformed this process into a more manageable task.

Upon discovering my son-in-law's background as a veterinarian, he suggested adding a calculator for mg/kg dosage. Our research revealed an abundance of veterinary calculator apps, predominantly iPhone-based, which often contained numerous distinct calculators. While these are indeed helpful, they tend to lack efficiency for frequent, straightforward calculations.

In developing a watch-compatible calculator, we faced unique challenges compared to iPhone applications. I focused on ensuring rapid and precise data entry using just the digital crown.
